Part 1 Overview

1.1 What is the MOJ Analytical Data Store(ADS)?

It’s a centralized, secure and scalable cloud-based multi-tenant storage platform that allows to ingest and store structured and unstructured data and transform the raw data assets as needed. It will provide a unified data repository for accurate and reliable data in a consistent, standardised and self-service manner that can be accessed by wider business user groups like Data scientists, Data Analysts.

This will also address some of the challenges being faced such as fragmented data and manual interventions.

1.1.1 Objectives

This aims to meet the following objectives:

• Provide a reconciled and trusted source of information
• Establish a fully automated central repository and eliminate data silos
• Leverage open source tools, standards and achieve high performance, highly available data store with a cost-effective storage and compute solutions
• Loosely coupled, data driven platform that supports varieties of tools and capabilities to produce analysis and insight

1.1.2 Who is it for?

All the systems internal to Ministry of Justice that have data of organisation interest can be loaded onto ADS.
